E-1 Overview

Music has been a massive part of my life from the time it has entered my life. My entire family is into music, more so than the average person. Although my parents and I do not always agree on musical tastes, there are certain things that we can both listen to and appreciate. My personal musical tastes range from punk rock, to country, metal, hardcore, and rap. I listen to essentially everything except new pop. My parents and I sometimes argue because they call the music that I listen too garbage, and i think that a good portion of their music is absolutely terrible. The people that I would say mainly influenced my musical tastes were all of my cousins. One cousin has always listened to punk rock and metal music. That was really the first time I ever felt like I was expressing myself. Music lets people express themselves in a way that you can't really do with anything else. Not everybody can see that in music. I feel bad for those people. For someone not too be able to appreciate music the way that I do, I just don't understand it. That is why the first style I really got into was punk rock. The amount of self expression and emotion in punk rock is unlike anything I had ever heard. At this time, I absolutely despised hip-hop and rap music. I just didn't understand that people could use that same emotion without playing actual instruments. As time went on, I was still listening to nothing but punk rock and it essentially formed a base for the rest of my musical growth. During my "punk rock" phase, I branched out and was listening to all sorts of hardcore and metal music. During my phase of branching out, I stumbled upon Rage Against The Machines album "The Battle of Los Angeles". Hearing Zach De La Rocha scream these lyrics at the top of his lungs, with a hip-hop beat changed my views on rap and music all together. Ever since then, I have not limited myself on what I would listen to and wouldn't listen too. In this blog I will do reviews of some of my favorite albums, artists, and songs from all different genres.
