A lot of people assume that all hardcore music and bands is
all about death and killing and terrible, awful things. There are few things
that I dislike more that hearing people say that. The term "Hardcore"
can range in lots of sub-genres. A few of the popular "Hardcore"
genres are "Hadrcore punk", "MetalCore" "Screamo"
and basically anything where the vocals are not clear, with heavy pounding
guitars, fast paced drums, and incredibly deep meaningful lyrics. A lot of
people cannot get the fact that they can't understand the words that they are
hearing, so they just assume that it is all horrid things. It is just simply
not true. Hardcore artists are some of the most emotional and deep writers and
musicians on the music scene today. They definitely have more emotion in their
songs than any mainstream pop music. The emotion is all raw, and uncensored.
That is the reason that I love it so much. Some good examples of popular
hardcore bands are "A Day To Remember", "The Devil Wears
Prada", and "We Came as Romans". All of those bands are not
confined simply to hardcore, some would be classified as Metal, or Screamo. The
first type of Hardcore started with bands like "Operation Ivy", and
"Minor Threat". Once people in other areas of the country heard this
new type of self-expression, they wanted to start their own. Specifically in
Boston, MA. The bands that were formed in Boston included "MadBall",
"Blood for Blood", and "Agnostic Front". These bands took
what Washington had created and turned it into something completely different.
They did it faster, heavier, louder, and made it better than it had ever been.
The Boston hardcore scene is responsible for molding the scene into what it is
today. Before you judge the type of music that I along with millions of others love,
take a look into the history and meaning. Maybe you'll be able to see why we
love it so much.
